Beach Wedding Dresses

If you're planning to be married on the beach, your wedding dress will have to be up to the task.

Most wedding dresses would not be appropriate for a beach wedding - a fabulous train of satin would become a filthy mess on the beach! Beach wedding dresses have to lightweight, comfortable (no air conditioning out there) and accentuate your beach wedding theme. A less formal wedding dress is in order.

Sarongs can make beautiful beach wedding dresses. If your body is in great shape, a sexy tummy-exposing pareo with a halter top is exquisite. A natural silk jacquard fabric is elegant yet cool and relatively carefree. A shawl over a scarf top can stay on for the ceremony, and come off for fun in the sun at the reception.

Accents for beach wedding dresses can include Battenburg lace and, of course, pearls from the sea. A tropical flower motif can run through the weddings dresses, bouquets, and bridesmaids attire.

Beach Wedding DressesHawaiian looks also make great options for beach wedding dresses. The Hawaiian Wedding Shop offers a selections of informal beach wedding dresses and Hawaiian wedding wear and accessories.

Beach wedding dresses should be relatively informal, but they can still look like real wedding dresses. Since a floor length dress can get ruined, a handkerchief hem on an otherwise somewhat traditional wedding dress can work. PJ Max, out of the Florida Keys, has a Bridal nook with some great ideas for beach wedding dresses.

Beach wedding dresses need to be paired with appropriate footwear - the shoes that go with traditional wedding dresses are usually not a good choice for the beach! You could always go barefoot under your beach wedding dress, but consider dressing your feet up with some "barefoot sandals" - jewelry for your feet. Footsies offers bridal foot jewelry, and Great Lakes Gifts has a Natural Sandals line of barefoot sandals.
